HOOKSETT, N.H. -- Chuck Croteau and Scott Proulx each scored two goals during a five-goal third period that sent the New Hampshire College Penmen to a 6-3 victory over the Tufts Jumbos in ECAC college hockey action on Saturday night.

The Jumbos, who have already secured a home game for Saturday (Feb. 26) in the ECAC Northeast playoffs, got on the board first as senior captain Drew Carleton (Shaker Heights, OH) remained red-hot with his 21st goal of the season 2:38 into the second period. Matt Nee would even the game at 1-1 for the Penmen at 13:02 of the middle frame.

The two teams slugged it out in the third period, combining for seven goals in the final 20 minutes with New Hampshire College getting most of them. Senior Scott Sullivan (Tewksbury, MA) scored just 20 seconds into the period to give Tufts a 2-1 lead, but it was short-lived as Croteau scored unassisted to tie the game at 2-2 18 seconds later. Proulx gave NHC the lead for good at 1:51 of the period, then he, Croteau and Nee each added their second goals of the game to lead the barage. Carleton scored his second of the game with 1:25 remaining for the Jumbos.

Sophomore Alex Scerbo (Hingham, MA) got the start in net for Tufts and made 24 saves. Brian Windhol stopped 25 shots between the pipes for the hosts.

Tufts finishes its regular season with a make-up game at Assumption on Tuesday, then plays its first home playoff game since 1989 on Saturday at Babson starting at 7 pm. The Jumbos are going to finish third in the ECAC Northeast, and their playoff opponent is still to be determined.
