NEW LONDON, Conn. -- Host Connecticut College scored four unanswered goals in the second period and went on to post a 5-3 victory over the Tufts Jumbos in college hockey action between New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) foes on Tuesday night.

Tufts had a 1-0 lead after the first period on senior Mike Stuart's (Great Falls, VA) first goal of the season. The Camels answered with four in the middle frame, including two (one shorthanded) by Parker Sides. The underdog Jumbos didn't quit, pulling to within 4-3 with goals by senior Scott Sullivan (Tewksbury, MA) and junior Dan Mahoney (Tewksbury, MA) 38 seconds apart in the middle of the third period. Conn added a Dave DePalma score at 13:57 to lead 5-3 and that was how it ended.

The Jumbos posted a 37-32 advantage in shots. Sophomore workhorse Ian Kell (St. Paul, MN) made 27 saves in the Tufts net. Judd Brackett and Brett Roth combined for 34 saves in the Camels net.

Tufts returns to ECAC Northeast Division and home ice action on Saturday (Jan. 22) versus Johnson & Wales. The game will be played at Harvard University's Bright Arena, facing off at 3:30 pm.
