PORTSMOUTH, R.I. -- Tufts senior captain Drew Carleton (Shaker Heights, OH) scored the game-winning goal with five seconds left in the third period as the Jumbos defeated Salve Regina, 5-4, in ECAC Northeast action on Wednesday night.

Freshman Rob LaQuaglia (Medford, MA) accounted for the first three Jumbo goals, with his hat trick giving Tufts a 3-2 lead early in the third.

The Seahawks had goals from four different folks. Mike Snowden tied the game at 1-1 in the first and Brian Hannifin gave Salve a one-goal lead after the first period.

Tufts goaltender Ian Kell (St. Paul, MN), who finished with 37 saves, shut out the Seahawks in the second period, but Matt Hillberg and Daron Greelish scored goals 31 seconds apart to give Salve a 4-3 advantage. Jumbo freshman Mike Carceo (Belmont, MA) knotted the game at 4-4 with under 10 minutes remaining and it looked like it was going overtime until Carleton struck.

Salve Regina freshman goaltender Chris Burns, who was named ECAC Northeast Goaltender of the Week, turned away 29 shots while suffering his first loss.
