LaQUAGLIA NAMED ECAC NORTHEAST ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
MEDFORD -- Freshman forward Rob LaQuaglia (Medford, MA/Belmont Hill) of the Tufts University hockey team was named the ECAC/CCM Rookie of the Week for the Northeast Division.
In games during the week of November 29 through December 5, LaQuaglia recorded a six-point week as Tufts skated to back to back victories over Division II opponents St. Michael's and Stonehill. He tallied four assists in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Ice Knights, and then broke open a 3-2 game when he scored twice in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Chieftains.
The successful week also earned Tufts two spots on the ECAC Northeast honor roll.
Freshman forward Mike Carceo (Belmont, MA/Belmont), who along with
LaQuaglia has provided a freshmen spark on offense, had a hat trick against Saint
Michael's and two assists versus Stonehill. Sophomore goaltender Ian Kell
(St. Paul, MN/St. Paul Academy) stopped 29 St. Michael's shots and then turned
aside 24 against Stonehill, good for a .930 save percentage and two victories.
With the two wins, Tufts moved over .500 to 3-2. The Jumbos close the first semester with
games at Salve Regina on Wednesday (Dec. 8) at 7:30 pm and at home against Nichols on
Saturday (Dec. 11) at UMass-Boston starting at 3 pm.
