NEW LONDON, CONN. -- The Tufts University hockey team lost its final non-conference game of the season, 6-3 at Connecticut College on Tuesday night. Junior center Tim Flaherty (Pointe-Claire, QUE) scored three goals to lead the Camels at home.

Tufts had a 2-0 lead early in the second period on goals by freshman Ben Delaney Winn (Winchester, MA) and senior tri-captain Scott Hayes (Medfield, MA). Connecticut College then finished the second period with three unanswered goals, Flaherty's first two and one by Jesse LaRusso (Greenwich, CT) that gave them the lead for good.

The Camels scored two powerplay goals barely two minutes apart in the third period to take control of the game. After Justin Picone (Ellington, CT) scored on the powerplay for Tufts, Flaherty completed his hat trick on a goal with three seconds left in the game. It was the Camels' third powerplay goal of the period.

Sophomore Ben Crapser (Paxton, MA) had 25 saves in the Jumbo net. The shots were a close 31-29 in favor of Conn. The Jumbos (13-5 overall, 11-1 ECAC Northeast) were 2-4 in non-league games, 0-4 against ECAC East/NESCAC squads. They host Framingham State College at Boston College on Thursday night at 8.
