LAWRENCE – Junior Jason Boudrow (Somerville, MA), the leading scorer in the country, scored a hat trick to lead the Tufts University hockey team to a 5-3 victory over upset-minded Curry College in ECAC Northeast Division college hockey action on Thursday night.

Back-to-back goals by Boudrow less than five minutes apart early in the second period broke a 1-1 tie and gave Tufts a 3-1 lead. That’s how the period ended. Curry opened the third by closing the gap to 3-2 on a powerplay goal by senior Justin DelVecchio (Wallingford, MA) just 2:37 into the period. A powerplay strike by Tufts senior Natan Obed (Goose Bay, NFLD) at 8:10 of the third, and Boudrow’s third goal at 13:15, gave the Jumbos a comfortable 5-2 margin. Boudrow improve his national leading numbers to 25 goals and 30 assists for 55 points in 16 games.

Winless Curry (0-14-1) gave the Jumbos all they could handle. After freshman Timm Schatz (Mequon, WI) put Tufts on the scoreboard first with a goal at 2:14, Curry answered with a goal by freshman Kevin Narciso (Fall River, MA) at 13:47 for a 1-1 tie after the first. Boudrow’s back-to-back goals gave Tufts the lead for good, but Curry was within one goal nearly halfway into the third.

The shots were an even 32-32 for the game, with Curry goalie Joe Snecinski (Cromwell, CT) making 27 saves and Tufts freshman Ben Crapser (Paxton, MA) stopping 29 shots for the win.
