CAMBRIDGE – Junior forward Jason Boudrow (Somerville, MA) scored two powerplay goals during Tufts’ four-goal second period, and freshman goalie Ben Crapser (Paxton, MA) made 40 saves, as the Jumbos posted a 5-2 win over visiting Lebanon Valley College in ECAC Northeast Division hockey action on Friday night.

Freshman Pat Byrne’s (Burlington, MA) goal at 7:08 of the second gave Tufts a 3-1 lead and ignited a three-goal run in 7:11 by the Jumbos that put them ahead, 5-1, on Boudrow’s second of the game at 14:19 of the middle stanza. With Crapser playing consistently well (13 saves in the first, 13 in the second, 14 in the third), the Jumbos were able to close out this battle between the Northeast’s third (Tufts) and fourth (LVC) place teams. Byrne finished with a goal and two assists.

After Tufts went up 2-0 on Boudrow’s first of the game at 1:08 of the second, the visitors cut that in half with the first of sophomore Brian Yingling’s (Steelton, PA) two goals just 40 second later at 1:48. Yingling scored his second on the powerplay at 1:38 of the third. Junior Jamie Taylor (Sharon, ONT) had two assists for the Flying Dutchmen. Junior Lincoln Matlock (Malone, NY) started for LVC and made 15 saves before he was pulled after Tufts’ fifth goal. Junior Kevin Block (Webster, NY) finished with 17 saves.

The game featured 79 shots (40 by LVC and 37 by Tufts), four powerplay goals and 17 penalties. The Jumbos were three for six on man-advantage situations.
