WORCESTER, Mass. -- Junior co-captain Chris Susi scored his second goal of the game with 8:33 left in the third period to lift the host Worcester State College Lancers to a 5-4 victory over the Tufts University Jumbos in ECAC Northeast Division college hockey action on Tuesday night. The loss was the first in the league for the Jumbos, who fell to 10-3 overall and 8-1 in the ECAC. Worcester, which upset Tufts for the second straight year, improved to 8-7 and 5-4.

The game featured a five-goal third period that determined the outcome. An early goal by Worcester senior Carlin Grenier gave the Lancers a 3-2 lead. The Jumbos battled back to take a 4-3 lead on goals by sophomore Tim Havern (Arlington, MA) at 2:27 and senior tri-captain Dan Mahoney's (Tewksbury, MA) second goal of the game at 9:25. The Lancers answered quickly, with freshman Steve Prebola tying the score at 4-4 with a goal just 23 seconds after Mahoney's. Susi's game winner came less than two minutes later.

The teams traded goal in the first two periods, producing a 2-2 tie after 40 minutes of play. Sophomore Paul Sundeen was sharp in the Worcester goal, making 33 saves as Tufts out-shot the hosts 37-30. Freshman Ben Crapser (Paxton, MA) had 25 saves for the Jumbos.
