PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Sophomore forward Mike Carceo (Belmont, MA) scored a powerplay goal 31 seconds into the overtime period to lift the visiting Tufts University Jumbos to a big 6-5 win over Johnson & Wales University in ECAC Northeast hockey action on Sunday night.

Both teams entered the game with undefeated records in ECAC Northeast Play. The Jumbos were the only unbeaten team remaining at the end, improving to 10-2 overall and 8-0 in the league. The Wildcats dropped to 13-5-1 and 10-1.

Carceo's OT winner was his third of the game to go with an assist. It also saved Tufts much frustration after they let Johnson & Wales come back from a 5-2 deficit to tie the game at 5-5 on a goal by Dave Acceturro early in the third period. The Wildcats were victimized by their aggressive play late in the period, with Chris Thunman whistled off for slashing with 20 seconds left in the game. Carceo made them pay with his third powerplay goal and the team's fifth of the game.

Carceo scored twice in the first period and senior tri-captain Natan Obed (Goose Bay, NFLD) added another as Tufts jumped to a 3-0 lead. The hosts pulled within 3-2 by the end of the period on goals by Thunman and Sean Jackson. Jumbo tri-captain Dan Mahoney (Tewksbury, MA) and Obed (two goals, three assists) added powerplay goals to up the Tufts lead to 5-2 by mid-game. The Wildcats rallied with three goals (Tory Jacob, Derek Foster and Dave Acceturro) within 3:31 from late in the second to early in the third, tying the score at 5-5.

The penalty- and powerplay goal-filled game feature 17 calls against Johnson & Wales and 10 against Tufts. The Jumbos were five for 11 with the extra man and J&W was two for five.
