WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Babson College first-year Rob Harvey (Fredericton, N.B.) scored the eventual game-winning goal at 11:42 of the third period as the Beavers defeated Tufts University, 5-3, on Tuesday night. Harvey's goal spoiled an outstanding comeback by the Jumbos, who erased a 3-0 deficit early in the third period.

After a scoreless first period, Babson (8-4-3) exploded for three straight goals early in the second. First-years Steve Whitney (Attleboro, Mass.) and Eric Tkacz (Enfield, Conn.) each scored in the opening five minutes, and senior assistant captain Rob Winslow (Marblehead, Mass.) added another tally at 10:25 to make it 3-0.

Tufts (9-2-0) rallied behind the tandem of first-year Pat Byrne (Burlington, Mass.) and junior Jason Boudrow (Somerville, Mass.). Byrne put the Jumbos on the board with just over five minutes remaining in the second period, and
Boudrow tied things up with a pair of goals in the first seven minutes of the third. However, Harvey scored with 8:18 left in the game to put Babson up by one, and senior captain Jedd Morin (Weston, Conn.) followed with an empty netter in the closing seconds to cap off the 5-3 victory.

Junior Greg Berard (Woonsocket, R.I.) made 34 saves in net for Babson, including 16 in the third period. First-year Ben Crapser (Paxton, Mass.) also stopped 34 shots in goal for Tufts.

The Jumbos have a key ECAC Northeast contest against Johnson & Wales on Sunday (Nov. 21) at 8:15 pm. The game will be played at Providence College.
