MEDFORD – A trio of locals helped the Tufts hockey team post a 5-2 victory over Western New England College in ECAC Northeast Division men’s action on Saturday night. Sophomore forward Rob LaQuaglia (Medford, MA) scored two goals, junior forward Jason Boudrow (Somerville, MA) had a goal and three assists and sophomore forward Mike Carceo (Belmont, MA) added a goal and two assists.

The Jumbos ran to a 4-0 lead less than 24 minutes into the game. A powerplay goal by Carceo and shorthanded tally by LaQuaglia put Tufts up 2-0 after one period. Powerplay strikes by Boudrow and LaQuaglia early in the second pushed the margin to 4-0. The hosts were three for five on the powerplay overall.

With the win, Tufts improved to 9-1 overall and 7-0 in the division. They out-shot the Golden Bears (4-7-1, 1-5-1) 43-17, with freshman goalie Ben Crapser (Paxton, MA) making 15 saves for the win. Senior tri-captain Kyle Weise (Lakewood, NJ) had a powerplay goal and an assist for WNEC.
