Tufts Captures Coca-Cola Classic at Stonehill |

Although, there was a holiday last week, the Northeast had
an action packed week. Occurring in Bridgewater Massachusetts was the Stonehill
Coca-Cola Classic. Host Stonehill, Tufts, Salve Regina, UMass Boston, all ECAC
Northeast league members, played in the tournament. Tufts University captured
the title with a 7-2 win over Salve Regina. Tournament MVP, Jason Boudrow netted
a pair of goals and four assists, tallying six points for the Jumbos. Tufts
advanced to the championship with a 7-4 win over Stonehill. Runner up Salve
Regina, played in the championship game after coming up with a 4-3 win over
UMASS Boston. Salve Regina's Matt Hilberg and Peter Marfione each scored two
goals for the Sea Hawks. When Tufts and Salve Regina met in the championship
game, Tufts came out strong with three first period power play goals en route to
a 7-2 victory. Freshman Pat Byrne finished the afternoon with two goals for the
Jumbos. Salve's Eddy Fletcher and Hilberg netted the goals in the loss for Salve
Regina. Also having a solid weekend was host, Stonehill. Stonehill claimed the
third place honors after coming ahead of UMass Boston 4-2. Sophomore Mike Ryan
scored two goals for Stonehill. The Chieftains came from a 2-0 deficit in the
first period to score four consecutive goals to win the game. Mike Tyan's second
goal of the day in the second period, proved to be the game winner. The
Chieftains now improve to a 2-4 record this season. Tufts's Crasper, Salve
Regina's Hilberg and Marfione, Stonehill sophomore Brendan Flemming, and UMass
Boston senior Mark Fontas joined Boudrow on the all-tournament
team.
Leading the league for Division III with a 4-0 record, is Johnson
and Wales and Wentworth. New Hampshire College leads Division II with a 2-0
league and a 4-1-1 overall record.

Award Winners
ECAC/CCM Player of the
Week
Jason Boudrow, Jr, F, Tufts (Somerville, MA)
Named
the MVP of the Coca-Cola Ice Hockey Classic at Stonehill College. Netted a pair
of goals and four assists in the two games. The Jumbos posted a 7-4 victory over
Stonehill in the first round on Saturday, then won the championship game 7-2
against Salve Regina.
ECAC/CCM Rookie of the
Week
Ben Crasper, Fr, G, Tufts (Paxton, MA)
Posted a
3.00 goals against average and a 90.6 save percentage. He stopped 23 of 27 shots
in the first round against Stonehill, then made 35 saves on 37 shots against
Salve Regina. He had 16 first period saves against Salve, helping Tufts to 7-2
championship game victory.
ECAC/CCM Goalie of the
Week
Larry Forgue, Jr, G, Plymouth State (Nashua,
NH)
Tallied 39 saves, including 15 in the third period in the 1-1
overtime tie against New Hampshire College last Tuesday.

Chris Burns, So, G, Salve
Regina (Quincy MA)
In a 1-2 week for the Seahawks, he stopped 88 shots
(39, 26, and 23) while allowing 12 goals (3, 3 and 6).
Mike Ryan, So,
F, Stonehill (Chicopee, MA)
Netted pair of goals, including eventual
game-winner in second period, and added an assist for three points in
Chieftains' 4-2 win over UMass Boston in Stonehill Coca-Cola
Classic.
Brendan Flemming, So, F, Stonehill (Troy, N.Y.)
Earned
all-tournament honors at Stonehill Coca-Cola Classic after netting pair of goals
for Chieftains in 7-4 setback to Tufts.
Tom Leyne, Sr, F, UMass-Boston
(Lexington, MA)
Scored his first goal of the season and also added two
assists to his record. His two assists came against Salve Regina in the first
round of the Stonehill Tournament and his goal came against host
Stonehill.
Robert Sullivan, Jr, F, UMass-Boston (Cambridge,
MA)
Tallied his first goal of the season to go with two assists. He
scored a goal and added an assist against Salve Regina and assisted on a goal
against Stonehill.
Vessa Peura, Jr, F, Wentworth (Ronvaniemi,
Finland)
In a 1-1 week for the Leopards, Peura tallied three goals. He
scored twice (including the game winner) in a 5-0 win over Suffolk and scored
Wentworth's lone goal in a 4-1 loss to New England College.
Jamie
Vanek, So, G, Wentworth (Bramptin, Ontario)
Turned aside 21 shots in a
5-0 victory over Suffolk to notch his first career shutout.
Nate
Stockton, Sr, G, Western New England (Weymouth, MA)
Has a 92.4 save
percentage with 85 saves in three games, including 35 against Saint
Michaels.
