NORTH EASTON -- The visiting Tufts Jumbos scored the first four goals of the game in just 13 minutes on their way to a 7-4 victory over host Stonehill College in the first round of the Coca-Cola Invitational. The Jumbos will play Salve Regina, a 4-3 winner over UMass-Boston in the other first round game, in the championship game on Sunday (Nov. 26) at 4:45 pm.

Four different players scored for Tufts in the first period. Senior tri-captain Scott Hayes (Medfield, MA) got the team on the scoreboard 7:16 into the game. Then Tufts quickly led 2-0 as freshman Pat Byrne (Burlington, MA) scored off a feed from junior Jason Boudrow (Somerville, MA) at 7:45. Sophomore Tim Havern (Arlington, MA) and senior Ben Sargent (Triton, MA) each scored the second goal of his career and Tufts was on its way.

Stonehill did cut the lead in half early in the second period, but the Jumbos responded with goals by Mike Carceo (Belmont, MA) and Bryne's second from Boudrow on the powerplay. Stonehill again closed the gap, cutting it to 6-4 early in the third period. Tufts freshman goalie Ben Crapser (Paxton, MA) held the fort, making seven of his 23 saves in the final frame. Boudrow scored an empty net goal to cap it.
