The first semester wrapped up this week with a good ending for the Jumbos going 2-0 to go into the break at the .500 mark - it could have been better but after a 0-3 start 4-4 looks pretty good
On Wednesday Nichols came to town and looked like a good club for most of the first period -we opened the scoring at 18:25 and got another at 19:56 to break it open a bit - scoring by Cleary and Boudrow with assists to McCarthy, Boudrow, Cleary, and Walsh
We blew the game open at 5:05, Hurd from Bailey - scored again at 8:07 Sullivan unassisted stealing the puck at center ice, O'Connell scored at 10:57 from Hurd and Sullivan and after a Nichols goal Bailey scored at 16:07 from McCarthy to make it 6-1 after 2
Pretty much more of the same in the third with Cleary scoring twice from Rotondi and Walsh
A good all around effort - Kalec played well in goal and all the defense men picked it up a bit
On Saturday down to Conn Col for a very big game for the Jumbos, league and confident wise
We opened the scoring 5 minutes into the game Hertzog from Thompson and made it 2-0 on a PP goal by Hurd from Thompson - Coach Murphy said he planned this play and I am sure Hurd will back him up - the play was even with a little edge to the Jumbos for the rest of the period
In the second we scored again at 4:12, Sullivan from O'Connell and Murphy to go up 3-0 but for the rest of the period we merely held on and escaped with no further scoring though outshot 16-4 - you might say our defense and goaltending keep the door shut
In the third we got our act together for a quick 4-0 lead Bailey from Boudrow at 1:57 - CC came back with 2 goals, one on the PP, but we were playing well and finished it off 5-2 with an open netter Hurd from O'Connell - Kalec again got the win in goal
