December 8, 2005 - UMass Dartmouth

Freezing at the rink but a good setting for the usual Tufts/UMD tussle

The first period was up and down, very even, few penalties and no score until 19:24 when Cleary stole the puck in the offensive zone and scored an unassisted goal to put us up 1-0

The second period was more of the same except that we consistently had the upper hand and it paid off early, O'Connell from Thompson and M McCarthy for a 2-0 lead - again up and down, few penalties with a good fast pace - we upped it to 3-0 at 17:32, Cleary his second from Bailey and Tosto - at this point

our play got sloppy but we went into the third at 3-0 After a delay when the Zamboni ran out of fuel in the middle of the process, (hard to do with 2 tanks aboard) the period got underway only to find that we seemed to run low on fuel also - UMD opened the scoring at 5:53, on a screen shot that I am sure our goalie never saw while they were on a PP - they continued to get the better of the play and made it 3-2 shortly after at 7:57 - we picked the pace up a bit, held the fort at times, got some help at 16:37 when UMD got the first of 2 penalties in the last few minutes and walked off with a hard earned 3-2 win - Matt Ninnemann played very well in his first start - I guess we want to make all games exciting hence our penchant for last minute suspense
