Fri nite we took on good New England College team to start the weekend festivities

The first period was dead even and that's how it ended 1-1 - we scored first at 5:22 Sullivan scoring on a nice pass from Byrne, Gardner got the second assist - NEC replied at the 15 min mark to even it up

The second period was more of the same with NEC going ahead at 4:14 - we came back at 8:13 on the PP with Bickoff scoring, unassisted, after some good hard work - NEC scored on a PP at 12:12 and we scored 33 sec later Hurd scoring with assists to his linemates Carceo and McCarthy - we started getting too many penalties and the flow of the game was getting away from us a little

The third period started off with the end of a 4 on 3 situation but we could not capitalize and went down 3-4 at the 4:18 mark - at 6:17 we finally scored on a 5 on 3 Carceo from Boudrow but our joy was short lived with NEC scoring twice in the next 2 minutes and that was pretty much the ball game - they scored an open netter to make the final 7-4

Saturday we took on ST Anslems - last year we played one of our real bad ones against them losing 9 zip

This game started out well in the first period and we closed it out with a 4 on 4 goal by Remi Bickoff, assisted by Chris Martin - it stayed 1-0 well into the second until we got a little unraveled allowing them to tie it at 8:05 - we got a turnover from them at 10:32 with a nice score by John Van Pelt - unfotunately we returned the favor later on in the period to make it a 2-2 game - at 19:27 Shawn Sullivan, Jason Boudrow and Pat Byrne combined to give us the lead with 33 seconds left in the period {33 is our lucky number I guess}

In the third we started of with a protocol penalty, there our firm set of guidelines laid out for the start of each period, but we got through that - a goal by NEC evened it up at 10:11 and thats how regulation ended -in the meantime we hit a crossbar, had 2 pucks resting on the goal line and for the life of us we could not score - OT was even, ours is a 5 minute sudden death, but no blood was drawn

A disappointing tie but hopefully part off the learning process about what it takes to win - we are definitely a stronger team than last year, but we are by no means strong enough to cruise through any game, period, or shift - this focus is what the Coach Murphy will be targeting next semester when it certainly does not get any easier

I will get some stats out and also get a newsletter in the mail in the next 2 weeks - also the raffle tickets will go out right after Christmas

Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season Ben
