The first period was a bit sluggish for us but SA were right on - we withstood the pressure for about
half the period but got a great goal from Dylan Cooper at 10:11, faked a slap shot, kept the puck and
put it in short side - DeRosa (who else) got the assist ----- we then played very well for the rest of
the period and gabbed a 2-0 lead at 14:00 on another great shot by Cody Armstrong, his first ever, with
the assist to Tim Mitropoulos (you may recognize that name) - that is how the period ended ------- in
the second period we got a PP goal at 6:53 from Cooper, again DeRosa on the assist - the rest of that
period was pretty even with both goalies, Evin Koleini for us, playing very well -----------------------
in the third we did not play well from the very start partly due to SA playing up a notch and putting
constant pressure on our defense - finally at 7:27 they scored then rang it up again at 11 ;43 to make
it a one goal game -------------- if memory serves me right last year we went into third with a 3 goal
lead and had to go into OT to win 4-3, so at this point I am not a happy camper ------ we get a break,
Mike Vitale comes down the left side gets off a shot from the edge of the faceoff circle which rips
off the goalies glove over his shoulder and in, this is at 15:58 (Conor Pieri and Nick Pappas)
assisted-- as usual we get into a "yank the goalie" mode and as has happened so many times, both ways,
SA scores at 19:26 --- more 6 on 5 in our ended but we hold the fort for a 4-3 win again
As I said earlier we will see many one goal games and many 6 on 5's - this was a very good weekend
for us - some of the younger players are getting their feet wet and the seniors are all playing well
- one more game this semester at Conn College Saturday at 7:00 ---- most of you do not know that we
will be playing a NESCAC schedule next year, that is home and home with our 9 NESCAC rivals, two
tournaments and 2 non league games, probably against local teams like Curry and Suffolk
