Had a Sunday afternoon game with UMD this past weekend. They are also much improved over the past few years and will definitely be in the top three of the NE division.

The first period was pretty even maybe a slight edge to UMD. They opened the scoring at 16:49 on a PP goal that caught us running around a bit right at the end of the SH situation. We came right back 1:12 later to tie it up on a score by Pat Byrne from Boudrow and Sullivan. All in all a fast pace to the period, but we definitely had to get used to the tiny rink a situation that we just don't have any more in the East competition. The overall quality of play does suffer and only reinforces that the move to the Nescac type loop was correct.

The second period was again played at a fast pace and we went ahead on a PP goal at 6:16 Boudrow from Carceo and Fr. Jack Thompson. Our PP is coming on and should be a force all year with 2 groups able to go. 4 minutes later we gave up an even up goal with a real breakdown in DZC (defensive zone cover for Matt Ryan and his friends ). Umd scored again at 17:49 just as a UMD PP finished, we just kind of ran out of gas. We finished the period on the PP and into the third but no score.

We really started to play better in this period and but did not score until 11:26. Chris Martin got the goal finishing off a nice combo from Boudrow and Sullivan. I do not know how Chris, a D, got in position to tip in the pass but it was nice to watch. We continued to play well but had a penalty with 3 min to go, only to see us come up with a goal off a great steal deep in their zone by Gino Rotondi followed by a super feed to Carceo for the quicky goal. Not to be outdone UMD tied it up with 1:32 remaining. We then had a goal disallowed on a very disputed call where the goalie dislodged the net after being warned about this.

Oh well into overtime we went - for the first2 min we played in our zone but no great scoring threats - for the last 3 min we dominated and caused a penalty call on UMD with about 11/2 to go - a hit post and numerous opportunities did not yield a goal and so it ended 4-4.

Penalties were TU 5 and UMD 7 Shots recorded by a philosophy major posing as a statistician ( sorry you philosophical people ) were TU 24 and UMD 36 - in reality it was probably even, but as Coach Murphy said "who cares what they recorded".  see you next week.
