Last weekend we had our first of 4 overnites this one Fri nite at St. Mikes and Sat. afternoon at Norwich -

St. Michaels - 1st period - dead even game between two evenly matched teams who are both improved over last year

2nd period - more of the same until we broke the ice at 9:48 John Hurd So. assisted by CC Mike Carceo and Fr. Matt McCarthy - SM came back with a 4 on 3 goal at 11.57 which seemed to wake us up as we scored twice in the next 2 min to take a 3-1 lead, the goals by Jr.Jason Boudrow and Fr.Ken Cleary with assists going to So. Sean Sullivan, Fr. Pat Walsh and So. Gino Rotondi - at this point we seemed to take control a little

3dr period - that carried over as we rattled off two more quickies to start the third , one a sweet unassisted goal by Carceo and then Rotondi from Cleary and Fr. Remi Bickoff - it was a little chippy the rest of the way with the final 6-3 - Carceo scored again from Boudrow and Fr. Jack Thompson - a very good win to start the season particularly after a long ride to Burlington - Ben Crapser G got the game puck

on to Norwich the #1 ranked D3 team in the country - what a rink with all the amenities, 2500 stadium seats, 100x200 surface etc etc

1st period - after 4 minutes the Jumbos are up 2-0 - Cleary scores at 3:04 from Bickoff and Rotondi followed by Jr. Pat Byrne from Sullivan - we play a nicely paced fast game until the 11 or 12 minute mark when we decided the penalty box was part of the travel plans - 4 penalties later and we are down 3-2 - 2 goals in the first and one at the start of the second period

2nd period - after the first goal against we started to get our act together only to give up a goal one our PP on a great play by McLean, a first team D3 AA last year - they scored again at 13:01 but from that point on we played well and that carried over into the 3rd period

We made things very interesting at the 12:39 mark with a goal by Hurd from Carceo and McCarthy and kept it exciting with a near miss on the PP with 3min to go - and that is how it ended

I think we gained respect in the league with our performance and we probaly will not be sneaking up on anyone - after that win Norwich regained the #1 spot in the rankings having dropped to #2 even tho they had not played yet

Come out and see us - we will give the folks a good show -we were young last year and we still are, but you will see that we are deeper and better a necessary combo in this league

I will send out a note later about schedule, dues, missing email addresses etc Ben
