A weekend of hard nosed hockey

Fri nite UM Boston - I was sick and did not see this one but got info from the coach - we muddled our way through the first period - after giving them a goal early we came back to tie it up on a PP goal at 6:45, McCarthy from Boudrow and Cappellano - that was it after one
In the second we played better - got a goal early, Hurd from Boubrow and McCarthy, went up 3-1 at 16:23, Hertzog from Cleary,K and Gimbel only to let them back in the game for a 3-2 lead after 2 - UMB in the second semester has been a very competitive team with their usual array of transfers
In the third Kalec held the fort - O'Connell scored @7:06 from Tosto and Gimbel for the 4-2 final - a must win for us to keep us in the hunt for a playoff spot

Sat at Babson (12-4-3) - A very good team that could win the East part of our group (I did make this game) The first period was mostly played in our a end and resulted in a 0-2 score after one - we needed some plasma to get going in the second period and slowly we seemed to start evening up the play but could not score - at 17:06 Bailey, Cappellano and O'Connell combined for a great goal followed 14 seconds later by a Murphy, Hayes, Cleary combination and the crowd was very quiet (game at Babson) - that is how the period ended
In the third period play continued to be even with Azat in goal doing a great job - both teams had chances but no scoring - we took a penalty at the 15 minute mark and Babson quickly capitalized for the 3-2 lead - a open net goal in the last minute made it the 2-4 final - Boudrow left the game late with a concussion after a big collision and his head hitting the ice - hopefully he will be cleared by Fri

Next week 2 huge games with Amherst on Fri at 7:30 and Hamilton on Sat at 3:00 - this will be hockey at its best, both at home see you there
Ben
