Fri nite starts the toughest trip of the season, out to Hamilton on a 5 hour bus ride and back to Amherst for a 3:00 tilt on Sat.
The Hamilton first period reflects the bus ride and we see 24 Hamilton shots, to our 6, and it is no surprise we end the period down 1-3 - Hamilton scores at 12:53, a shorthanded goal at 14:03 and another at 19:11 - we score right after the SH goal on the PP M McCarthy from O'Connell and Dalton
The second period we play better, outshoot them 11-6, score on another PP M McCarthy from G McCarthy at 5:50, but Hamilton goes back up by 2 late in the period
We start quickly in the third with G McCarthy closing it to one, unassisted, at 1:30 and finally even it up 4-4 at 8:38, Cleary from Gimbel ---- unfortunately, as frequently happens, Hamilton strikes quickly to go ahead, add another goal at 15:02 and an open net goal for the 7-4 final ---- a dismal start followed by a great comeback and a disappointing end - shots 41-27, 22-16 us after the first. PP 2/7 Tu, 0/4 Ham
Amherst - We score late in the period on the PP, Milo from Delorey and Clark,in an otherwise lackluster period by both teams - unfortunately we don't pick it up in the second, get outplayed while Amherst goes ahead 2-1 - the third period continues to be the same for us as Amherst makes it 3-1 before we start playing better but not good enough - another open net goal gives us the 4-1 final - not a lot of fun this weekend
