Wed at Suffolk - play was fairly even in the first period we outshot them 15 - 11 and scored a PP goal at 9:10 (McCarthy from Boudrow and Murphy) to lead 1-0 after one.

We started to dominate in the second scoring three times (Gimbel, O'Connell, and McCarthy) to take a 4-0 lead. We continued score quickly (Hurd, O'Connell and Hertzog) to go up 7-0 - Suffolk countered with two and Murphy's score made the final 8-2 --- a game we should have won and we did.

The iron from Maine arrived in the person of Colby, coming off weekend victories over Middlebury and Williams

The first period started off with Colby in our end, continued on with Colby in our end and ended up with Colby in our end - fortunately Kalec in goal stopped everything that they threw at him - and it ended up 0-0

We started playing a little better, within ourselves but still depending on Kalec to stop everything - they finally put one in at 9:22 to go up 1-0 - up comes our checking line to tie it up at 13:49, Dalton from Kniaz and at 16:07 Murphy takes advantage of a goalie out roaming to score at 16:07 (from Corbett and Hayes) and the scoreboard reads 2-1 us after two

Now the fun starts - we play better, though not dominating, but working very hard - it pays off again with O'Connell, Hurd and Gimbel (a new line, two freshman and a senior) scoring after some great forechecking all during the shift - it remains that way until Cleary stole the puck and caught the goalie off guard to make it 4-1 and that is how it ended - our first ever win over Colby - Kalec got the game puck for his 60, yes 60 saves - a few of these wins does a season make

Bowdoin is in Sat also after beating Middlebury last week - this game is a little different though Bowdoin is clearly a very good team

We play perhaps our best period of the year and that results in a 2-0 lead after one - Gimbel from O'Connell at 7:30 and a PP goal at 19:54 McCarthy from Cleary and Cappellano - we outshot them 11-4

The tables turned in the second as Bowdoin outshot us 15-4 and rattled in three goals at 10:18, PP at 13:28 and another at 14:49 - we held on for the rest of the period to hold it to 2-3 after two

The first few minutes of the third were furious but both goalies were up to it, Kalec once again in our net was very good - we scored a very hard working goal (seems to be our style) at 10:26 Tosto from O'Connell and Thompson - for the next 15 minutes, including overtime the play was even and we left the ice with a tie - again a first ever tie or win against Bowdoin

A few notes - we played 7 freshman - Gimbel, Hertzog, O'Connell, Cappellano, Sean Cleary, Kalec and Matt Tosto - because our squad is down to 18 healthy skater (Kestner is hurt FR) everyone plays and two, Cleary and Tosto saw their first action as regular shift players - (three skaters who were on the squad the first semester are not playing now) - so this weekend was remarkable and kudos to the coaches and players - If you were there it was exciting

next up Johnson and Wales in a non league game Wed at home at 7:30 - followed by league games at home Fri vs. So. Maine and Sat vs. Salem St - BOTH GAMES AT 7:30 - that is a change from our usual Sat time
